Interview

What are the foundations of your research (Art Identity)?
The foundations of my research are to be found in the aspects of myself and humanity in general that disturb me the most. I try to dissect these themes, exorcising them, transforming them and giving them a new interpretation. Only with hard work and genuine and continuous introspective elaboration am I able to continue and renew my artistic research and production.
Who are the artists who acted as a guideline for you in your research?
In reality I have never thought about a particular artist, then my research is based more on classical studies, so I am inspired more by writers and philosophers whose books I am an avid devourer of and podcast listener to. I often visit museums and galleries to stay updated on contemporaneity but I love theater and ballet, I participate in talks of all kinds, and perhaps this is how I interact more with my peers and the society in which I live, and from which I draw inspiration for my works and the current issues in which I live.
Define yourself as a human being using three adjectives.
Inflexible, ambitious, sensitive
In your vision, where is contemporary art going and where would you like it to go?
With the beginning of the Academy I realized that the world of art had almost nothing to do with sensitivity, sharing, conviviality and introspection. I became increasingly convinced of the ruthlessness and cruelty of the environment in which I aspired to fit in and of the inevitable selection that derives from it. I would like the contemporary world to give more possibilities to authenticity rather than to the laws of the market, because qualitatively speaking the most successful works are not always the best.
